A stoner is only as good as the quality of their joint. That’s why we’re here to show you how to roll a joint like Mike Tyson. Practice makes perfect. So, stock up on some kush and grab some papers, and let’s get to rolling!
How Much Weed Should You Put in a Joint?
A standard joint should have anywhere between 0.5 to 1 gram of weed. Any less or any more will make it difficult to roll up. But, hey, it’s your joint. You’re allowed to use as much or as little as you’d like. If you’re rolling with extra-long papers, you could probably get around 2 to 3 grams, depending on the paper size.
What Do You Need to Roll a Joint?
Papers: Duh. Papers are essential. There are a million and a half brands to choose from, but Mike Tyson recommends using his very own Futurola Papers (including filter tips). And if you don’t feel like rolling, use Mike Tyson’s pre-rolled cones.
Filter Tips: A good joint should have a filter tip. A small piece of stiff paper will do the trick, but you could also use an actual filter–you can find them at most smoke shops.
Grinder: Grinding up your weed before loading it in the joint will make sure you get a steady and even burn. There’s nothing worse than having to light and relight a joint that keeps going out. If you don’t have a grinder, chopping it up with scissors works too.
Rolling Tray: Joint rolling can get messy, and we don’t want you to lose a single crumb. For that reason, rolling trays are essential. Roll a joint like Mike Tyson with his custom medium tray or large tray.
How to Roll a Joint?
Step One: Grind Your Weed
First things first, grind your weed. If you don’t have a grinder, don’t worry; scissors work. The goal is to have the weed as fine as possible for easy rolling and a nice, steady burn. The other benefit of a grinder is that you won’t get your fingers all sticky as you’re breaking the weed apart.
Step Two: Make a Filter (Crutch)
Everyone has their own lingo for a filter. Some call it a crutch, a filter, or a tip. Regardless, it will make your rolling and smoking experience a lot better. All you need to make a filter is a stiff piece of paper–rip a piece about 1 inch by 1 inch and roll it into a cylinder. Place the filter on one side of the rolling paper, and you’re good to go.
Step Three: Add the Chronic
Now, the fun part. Take the weed you ground up and unload it on a laid-out rolling paper. Make sure it’s evenly distributed to avoid empty pockets and an uneven burning experience. However, if you want to roll a cone joint, load more weed at the end of the paper and less weed as you get closer to the mouthpiece.
Step Four: Roll It Up
1. The sticky part of the paper should be away from you. Grab the joint at the filter, pinch, and make a taco shape. Roll with your thumb and index fingers till you work the weed into the shape of the cylinder.
2. Tuck the non-sticky side (the bottom) of the paper over the cylinder-shaped weed and roll up towards the sticky strip. This step can be challenging. As you roll, keep tucking the paper up and over the weed as you move from the filter to the end of the joint.
Step Five: Seal it Up
Now that the joint is rolled, wet the adhesive strip with spit or water and seal the joint–start on the side of the filter and work your way to the other side. Wetting the strip too much could cause you to rip the paper, and too little could cause you to have an unsealed joint.
Step Six: Pack and Twist
Next, grab a pen or toothpick to pack the weed down from the opening of the joint. Since you were smart and used a rolling tray, you can take all the lost crumbs and repack them into the joint. Lastly, close the joint by twisting the tip of the joint paper.
Step Seven: Light it Up
If you made it to step seven, congratulations, you’re part of the rolling club . Spark the tip of the joint, inhale, and enjoy the wonderful effects of cannabis. You deserve it.
