SHAKING UP COLORADO WITH MEAGHAN HUTTO

Colorado is a pivotal part of cannabis history, being one of the first two states, alongside Washington, to legalize recreational marijuana. This early move has turned Colorado into a benchmark for other markets, so bringing TYSON 2.0 to the state was a no brainer, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our partners at Seven Point Distributors.

Leading Seven Point Distributors’ operations is Meaghan Hutto, the company’s COO, who has been a key factor in TYSON 2.0’s successful launch in Colorado. We had the chance to chat with Meaghan about the partnership and her journey in the cannabis space, which began in 2017.

BREAKING INTO THE CANNABIS SCENE

“I worked for a company called KushCo Holdings. They’re out of Cali and were one of the first publicly traded [cannabis] companies. It was such a fun job, but that’s really where I got into branding. I did custom packaging and vape products for them with key accounts. I love taking packaging from just an idea on paper and bringing it to real life. It’s so fun to me; I kind of geek out on that kind of stuff.”

Meaghan now stands out as one of the few female executives in the male-dominated cannabis space, allowing her to bring a fresh perspective and contribute to the evolution of the industry.  And for Meaghan, her position at Seven Point Distributors isn’t just a career milestone, it’s a personal achievement.

“I’m one of the business partners. So, it’s awesome for me. There’s not a ton of women at executive levels in the cannabis space, so it was a goal of mine.”

MILE HIGH COMPETITION

One of the key obstacles of operating in Colorado, says Meaghan, is market saturation. The state is flooded with brands and operators of all sizes, competing for a relatively small population compared to giant markets such as California, New York, and Florida.

“There’s probably more dispensaries than there are Starbucks in Colorado; there’s probably a little over 600 dispensaries, and we have a population of five million…So, the competition is high, but the positive is that most of the residents are high…But there’s some fierce competition, and you need to differentiate yourself.”

Staying ahead in such a competitive landscape requires innovation and quality, two principles Meaghan and her team live by. They focus on cultivating premium, hand-selected flower and delivering products no one else is offering. One such product is the upcoming debut of Mike’s Knockout Gummies.

MIKE’S KNOCKOUT GUMMIES

“The next big one that I’m super excited about is the TYSON 2.0 boxing glove gummies. They’re going to be full-spectrum rosin, 100 milligrams per pack, 10 milligrams per dose, and for flavors, we’re going to start with watermelon and peach.”

The first batch of Mike’s Knockout Gummies are set to land in Colorado dispensaries the week of August 5th. These boxing-glove shaped edibles were specifically designed to pay homage to Mike Tyson’s legendary boxing career and to amplify the growing buzz around his upcoming bout against Jake Paul on November 15th.

FACE-MELTING FLOWER

In addition to the excitement around the new gummies, Meaghan and her team have loaded up the state with classic, heavy-hitting pre-rolls and flower strains from the TYSON 2.0 catalog, such as TOAD, Gelato 44, and Haymaker Haze. And Meaghan promises the flower will blow you away.

“We’ve got some great responses with the retailers and the consumers…Dynamite Cookies is probably our most popular right now, and the eighths jar is currently testing at 30% potency; it just smacks you in the face when you open the jar, and it smells and tastes amazing.”
